Friday night’s January 3, 2025 SmackDown came out swinging with chaos and big moments from the start, as Cody Rhodes tried to set the tone only to get blindsided by Kevin Owens, immediately setting the stage for a tense night. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Andrade clean with a Kinshasa in a non-title bout, but LA Knight’s post-match attack reminded everyone the U.S. Title picture is still volatile. Michin scored a solid win over Piper Niven, showing off quick counters and her growing confidence. The tag division nearly stole the show when Motor City Machine Guns faced DIY for the WWE Tag Titles, but interference from Pretty Deadly and Los Garza turned it into a no-contest, leaving fans frustrated but buzzing. On the women’s side, Nia Jax retained the WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi, only for Tiffany Stratton to cash in her Money in the Bank contract immediately after, hitting her Prettiest Moonsault Ever to become the new champion in a shocking moment. The night closed with The Bloodline — Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga — defeating Sami Zayn and The Usos in a chaotic six-man tag, with Solo’s Samoan Spike on Jey Uso sealing the win and keeping their Tribal Combat storyline heating up for Raw. Overall, it was a loaded, chaotic SmackDown full of memorable moments, interference-heavy matches, and plenty of hype for what’s coming next, even if clean finishes were in short supply.
