Event Recap
Friday’s SmackDown went out with one last pump-up before Royal Rumble weekend, and Indianapolis brought a lively crowd for a night that was more about heat and hype than clean finishes. Jimmy Uso finally got a decisive win over Carmelo Hayes in a hard-fought opener that saw both guys trade offense and near-falls before Uso sneaked a schoolboy pin to end things. In the Women’s United States Title match, Michin looked like she might finally take the gold from Chelsea Green, hitting Eat Defeat, but Green turned things around — literally — by grabbing a kendo stick and getting disqualified, so she stayed champion. The eight-person tag was a total riot as Motor City Machine Guns & Los Garza hilariously outpaced DIY & Pretty Deadly with frantic tags, double teams, and plenty of near-falls before Sabin and Shelley scored the fall. Naomi poured it on to beat Liv Morgan in a slick singles bout that saw Naomi and Bianca Belair tag-team Morgan’s offense before Naomi locked in the win. Over on the undercard, Andrade put a beating on The Miz with precise offense and grit to pick up a clean victory, giving the crowd something fun to watch before the night ended. And in the back, LA Knight and Damian Priest teamed up to take down The Bloodline’s Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga in some post-match brawling that kept the crowd buzzing. All told, SmackDown wasn’t perfect — a few matches felt like filler — but it delivered solid momentum going into Royal Rumble Sunday with plenty of action and a couple of feel-good victories.
Match Results
Summary
Jimmy Uso and Carmelo Hayes opened the show with a seriously gritty matchup that had the feel of revenge on both sides. Hayes came out sharp, unloading quick strikes and high-impact offense, but Uso kept his composure and answered back with Samoan-style power moves and near-falls. After trading superkicks and chain wrestling, Uso scooped up the win thanks to a sneaky roll-up while holding a handful of tights for extra leverage. Hayes wasn’t bad at all here — he looked explosive and energetic — but Uso’s veteran savvy got him the pin on this go-home card for Royal Rumble nigh
Summary
Michin came in hot against Women’s U.S. Champion Chelsea Green, throwing everything from backslides to Eat Defeat attempts, and it felt like she was ready to finally steal the gold. She even had Green on the back foot before the chaos happened. Green didn’t even wait for the ref to get involved — she grabbed a kendo stick and blasted Michin with it, forcing a disqualification finish and keeping her title safe. That was both satisfying in its maddening heel way and frustrating because Michin clearly came closer than anyone else has lately.

Summary
This scramble of a tag was wild in the best classic tag-team sense. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) and Los Garza (Angel & Berto) effectively gang-banged DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) and Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) from bell to bell. There were rapid tags, quick roll-ups, tandem offense and comedy spots that kept the crowd invested. When all was said and done, it was the combined firepower of Sabin, Shelley and the Garzas that earned the pinfall victory in a match that was exactly as chaotic as advertised
Summary
Naomi and Liv Morgan brought a fun mix of speed and athleticism in this feel-good mid-card singles bout. Naomi was sharper early with crisp strikes and tried to ground Liv with smart mat work, but Morgan fought back like the loose cannon she is with quick counters and high-impact dives. In the end, Naomi got the pin after putting together a late flurry that finally kept Morgan from kicking out. Post-match, the frustration spilled over a bit, but Naomi’s win was a nice momentum boost heading into the Rumble weekend.
Main Event
Summary
This was more physical than poetic: Andrade and The Miz slugged it out with legitimate intensity. Miz tried to bring his usual mix of technical grappling and ring psychology, but Andrade’s hard strikes and elevated offense kept him in control for long portions of the match. The crowd remained steadily into this gritty exchange, and when the dust settled it was Andrade getting the clean pinfall over Miz — a solid little win that lets him walk into Royal Rumble night feeling relevant and fired up.
