Event Recap
The April 11, 2025 episode of WWE SmackDown from Seattle packed a lot into two hours as WrestleMania sat right around the corner, and the show had that familiar mix of big moments, solid matches, and a little bit of chaotic nonsense that wrestling fans have learned to expect this time of year. The biggest talking point came in the main event where Randy Orton teamed with United States Champion LA Knight to face Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga. What started as Orton confronting SmackDown GM Nick Aldis about not having a WrestleMania match quickly spiraled into a fight once Solo and Tonga jumped him. Knight made the save and the impromptu tag match was set. The pairing actually worked surprisingly well, with Orton dropping an RKO while Knight followed with the BFT to pin Tonga and score the win. The celebration didn’t last long though, because Jacob Fatu stormed the ring afterward and absolutely flattened Knight, leaving the U.S. Champion laid out and reminding everyone that WrestleMania fights rarely stay contained. Earlier in the night, the women’s division delivered a long six-team gauntlet match to determine the next challengers for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. After running the gauntlet against multiple teams, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria outlasted everyone to earn the title opportunity. Rey Fenix also kept his momentum going with a fast-paced win over Berto, while Tiffany Stratton defeated Roxanne Perez before the night turned ugly when Charlotte Flair attacked Stratton after the bell. There was also a blink-and-you-miss-it result where Zelina Vega beat Chelsea Green by count-out, which felt more like a quick jab than a full fight. Add in tense promos from Cody Rhodes and a backstage ambush where Drew McIntyre attacked Damian Priest, and SmackDown managed to pack in just enough chaos to keep the WrestleMania atmosphere feeling volatile. Maybe not the cleanest episode WWE has ever produced, but between the brawls, the gauntlet war, and Fatu wrecking LA Knight at the end, it definitely didn’t feel quiet.

Summary
The main event opened with a tense confrontation before quickly turning into a full-on tag match when Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga attacked Randy Orton backstage. LA Knight ran in to even the odds, and the match officially started with both teams trading heavy strikes and signature moves. Orton looked like he had the upper hand after hitting a crisp RKO on Tonga, and Knight followed it up with the B.F.T. to secure the pinfall. The victory didn’t last long, though, because Jacob Fatu stormed the ring afterward and unleashed a brutal assault on Knight, leaving him sprawled across the canvas. The match delivered solid in-ring action but ended with the usual chaos, giving Fatu the spotlight heading into WrestleMania.

Summary
This gauntlet match was a full-on endurance test and easily the most layered match on the show. Multiple teams cycled in and out, forcing Bayley and Lyra Valkyria to constantly adjust their strategy depending on who they were facing. Early on, they relied on quick tags and veteran awareness to survive fresher teams, while later stages turned into more of a grind with both women clearly wearing down. Lyra handled a lot of the heavy lifting during the middle stretch, taking punishment but staying alive long enough for Bayley to come in and clean house. By the final stretch, it felt like survival mode, but they managed to outlast the last team and secure the win, earning the title shot after a long, hard-fought effort.

Summary
This match was all about speed and precision, and it delivered pretty much exactly what you’d expect from Rey Fenix. He controlled the tempo early with quick strikes, evasive movement, and some smooth aerial offense that kept Berto guessing. Berto had his moments, especially when he grounded Fenix and tried to slow things down with more methodical offense, but he couldn’t keep control for long. Once Fenix got rolling again, the pace ramped up quickly, leading to a clean finish where he connected on a high-impact sequence to pick up the win. It wasn’t overly complicated, but it was crisp, clean, and one of the more satisfying matches on the show.

Summary
This match had a nice balance of athleticism and control, with Roxanne Perez bringing speed and technical counters while Tiffany Stratton leaned into her power and confidence-driven offense. Stratton controlled large portions of the match, using her size and timing to shut down Perez’s bursts of momentum. Perez did manage to string together some offense and make things competitive, but once Stratton regained control, she didn’t waste much time. The finish came when Stratton hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for a clean pinfall, wrapping up a match that made her look composed and dangerous heading into bigger moments.

Summary
Zelina Vega faced Chelsea Green in a match that was more strategic than brawling. Both women traded strikes and chain wrestling sequences, with Vega focusing on precision attacks and Green relying on power and opportunistic moves. Vega maintained control for much of the bout, but Green managed to create a few near-falls with quick counters. The match concluded when Green intentionally stepped out of the ring, giving Vega the win by count-out. While Vega technically won, the finish was anticlimactic, leaving the audience buzzing about the unresolved tension between the two
